Crochet Easy Square Coaster Pattern by Crochet For You.

This easy square coaster pattern is super easy and it is a great beginner crochet project, which includes crochet in rows and rounds.

Like I said earlier, this pattern is simple and also fast to whip up less than 30 minutes. With the single crochet stitch in rows, you can make this one crochet easy square coaster with the small amount of yarn. These Square coasters look great in different colours too!

I also made a lacy crochet applique pattern to attach on the coaster. For the applique to attach to the coaster, you can select any of crochet appliques. There are many adorable crochet applique patterns out there can be found easily. So you can match and attach any of those crochet appliques you like. It’s your choice.

Finished size 4.5″ x 4.5″

Materials

For one square coaster

Worsted weight approx: 20 yards.
5mm crochet hook.

Gauge for coaster 16 sc x 16 rows = with 5mm crochet hook.

For lacy crochet applique

Sport weight approx: 8 yards.
and 3mm crochet hook.
Needle and thread for attaching applique

Abbreviations

ch = chain
sl st = slip stitch
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
side-sc = single crochet stitch in, side of the work.
ch-sp = chain-space
beg = beginning
* to ; = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed.

Notes:

Beg ch does not count as st.

Crochet Easy Square Coasters

ch 16 with worsted weight yarn and 5mm crochet hook,

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.(15 sts total)

Row 2: sc in first st, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (15 sts total)

Row 3 to 15: repeat row 2.

Edging (Working around the edge including sides)

2 sc in first st, sc in next 13 sts, 2 sc in next corner st, sc in each of next 13 side-sc across, 2 sc in next corner st, sc in next 13 sts (on foundation chain side), 2 sc in next corner st, sc in each of next 13 side-sc across, sl st to first sc (60 sts total around the edge). Fasten off and weave the ends.

Lacy Crochet Applique

Make a magic ring with sport weight yarn and 3mm crochet hook.

Round 1: ch 2, 16 dc into the ring, sl st to first dc. (16 sts)

Round 2: sc in same st, *ch 6, sc in next st; repeat * to around, last ch 6 sl st to first sc. (16 ch-sp(s))

Round 3: sl st until 3^rd ch of first ch 6, sc in same st, ch 6, sc in next ch-sp; repeat * to around, last ch 6 sl st to first sc. (16 ch-sp(s))

Round 4: repeat round 2. Fasten off and weave the ends. Attach the applique to the coaster using needle and thread. See the photo collage below.
