Grab & Go Market or Beach Bag – free crochet pattern
Grab & Go Market or Beach Bag Crochet Pattern by Crochet For You.
I have always wanted to design a simple market bag that can be easy and fast to crochet. So I started to crochet this market bag with a new crochet stitch pattern.
And it’s also great for taking to the beach! As you can see, the stitch pattern in this bag just likes granny stitch in rows but it’s not like that.
Crocheting dc in ch-sp and fpdc in that dc previously crocheted, create such beautiful stitch pattern and it’s stretchy enough and lightweight. I’m so happy with the final result.

Skill level Intermediate
Finished size 9.5″ wide and 13″ tall without handle
Materials I used worsted weight medium #4 cotton yarn.
- (C1) cotton yarn approx: 150 yards.
- (C2) cotton yarn approx: 75 yards.
- 5mm crochet hook.
- Tapestry needle for weave ends.
Gauge 16 dc x 7 rows = 4″ with 5mm crochet hook. Gauge is not very important for this project.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- ch-sp = chain-space
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- sk = skip
- (C1) = color 1
- (C2) = color 2
- beg = beginning
- * to ; = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed.
Notes:
- Beg ch does not count as st.
- Crocheted in rounds from the bottom up.
- Gauge is not very important for this project. You can select any medium #3 #4 cotton yarn. However, the gauge of the yarn I selected is 16 dc x 7 rows = 4″ with 5mm crochet hook.
- To make long shoulder straps, you need to increase the chains in round 30 in handles part.
