Question: When you say “sl to picot” (or for any stitches connecting to a picot stitch), where in the picot stitch do you mean? In the space created by the picot? Or in the base stitch? Or at the peak? Lol, thanks in advance and excuse my ignorance 🙂
Erangi Udeshika
Hi Leslie, As you said, sl st to picot means slip stitch to the space created by the picot stitch.

Thanks a million! 🙂

You are welcome! 🙂

Another question about sl st to picot: does that mean to slip stitch on every stitch leading up to the picot? Or jump from the previous stitch to the picot to do the slip stitch? Thanks for you help.
Erangi Udeshika
If you worked in backward yes you should sl st to each stitch until that picot. But you work in forward normally in the round, sk dc stitches and sl st to the picot.
Rox
Thank you! That’s a relief. After the 4th round I had begun to 2nd guess myself and worried that I might have to start over.

Another example of what I am having trouble following:
Round 3: sl st to first picot st, ch 3, shell with picot in same picot st, *ch 1, sl st to next picot of shell st, picot st, ch 1, shell with picot in next picot st; repeat * to around, last ch 1 sl st to first dc of shell with picot st. (10 shell with picot sts)
When you write “shell with picot in same picot stitch,” which picot stitch is the same picot stitches? Are you referring just to the top of the picot or to all the six stitches that you tell us make up the picot? Or is “the same picot” the picot stitch you just referred to as “to first picot stitch,” since this is the only picot you’ve specifically mentioned? Help!
Erangi Udeshika
In the abbreviation part you can see 2 special stitches, picot stitch and shell with picot stitch. In round 3 we start the pattern with slip stitch (sl st) to the first picot stitch in the previous round so the ch 3, shell with picot in same picot st means crochet ch 3 and crochet shell with picot st into the picot stitch where you slip stitch previously. Hope you understand now.
