Materials
#4-Medium / Worsted in 3 colors (Approx: 768 total yards)
I used
- Red Heart Soft in 3 colors. 1 skein from each White (256 yards)/ Turquoise (256 yards)/ Coral (256 yards) (Amazon affiliates)
- I-9 / 5.5mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Gauge: 13 hdc x 8 rows = 4″ with 5.5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sk = skip
- st(s) = stitch(s)
- ch-sp = chain-space
- (C1) = color 1
- (C2) = color 2
- (C3) = color 3
- *to = repeat * to the instructions.
- [ ] work instructions within brackets as many times as directed
Crochet Checkered Fillet Blanket Pattern
Crochet multiple of 12+10.
With (C1) ch 106.
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from the hook. dc in each of next ch 5, [ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch] 3 times, dc in each of next ch 6; repeat * to across, turn. (79 dc total )
Row 2: ch 3 (count as st), *dc in each of next 6 sts, *[ch 1, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 3 times; repeat * to across, turn. (79 dc total)
Row 3: repeat row 2.
Row 4: ch 4 (count as dc and ch 1), sk next dc, dc in next dc, [ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc] 2 times, *[dc in next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 3 times, [ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc] 3 times; repeat * to across, turn. (76 dc total)
Row 5: ch 4 (count as dc and ch 1), sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc, [ch 1, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 2 times, *dc in each of next 6 dc, [ch 1, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 3 times; repeat * to across, turn.
Row 6: repeat row 5.
Row 7: ch 3 (count as dc), *[dc in next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 3 times, [ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc] 3 times; repeat *to across, turn. (79 dc total)
Row 8: ch 3 (count as st), dc in each of next 6 sts, *[ch 1, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc] 3 times, dc in each of next 6 sts; repeat * to across, turn. (79 dc total)
Row 9: repeat row 8.
Rows 10 to 18: repeat rows 4 to 9 continuously.
Rows 19 to 21: with (C2), repeat rows 7 to 9 continuously.
Rows 22 to 36: with (C2) repeat rows 4 to 9 continuously.
Rows 37 to 39: with (C3) repeat rows 7 to 9 continuously.
Rows 40 to 54: with (C3) repeat rows 4 to 9 continuously. Fasten off and weave the ends
Border: crochet in around the blanket
Round 1: with (C1), crochet hdc around the blanket evenly including the sides of the rows. make sure to crochet 5 hdc in each corner, sl st to the first st. (I crocheted 100 hdc in 2 short sides and 109 hdc in long 2 sides, 5 hdc in each corner. (438 hdc total around the blanket))
Round 2: repeat round 1 with (C2).
Round 3: with (C3), sl st in each st around the blanket. Fasten off and weave the ends.
