Crochet Winter Snowflake Baby Sweater Pattern by Crochet For You

Crochet Winter Snowflake Baby Sweater is my first attempt to crochet with graph pattern. This sweater is for 12 months babies.

I started this Winter Snowflake Baby Sweater with an empty mind and didn’t know how to crochet graph patterns. Believe me, I haven’t crocheted a graph pattern before. 🙂 So this project was a challenge for me.

So I started.

I enjoyed and played with colors, graph, and new techniques. First time I tried to tapestry crochet. First time I crochet my own graph pattern, too.

I learned lots of things and now I want to try more tapestry crochet and other techniques like Fair Isle and Intarsia. If you haven’t tried tapestry crochet or graph pattern yet, here is my experience. I think these will help you to start right away to learn new crochet methods and techniques.

There are lots of crochet techniques and methods to crochet graph pattern in crochet, tapestry crochet, color-work, fair isle and intarsia maybe there are more. But all of these techniques used to crochet graph or picture in crochet using two or more colors. I actually didn’t know which method I need to follow to make this crochet sweater.

I found these great tutorials and learned more about Tapestry Crochet.

These are the main reason why I select Tapestry Crochet for this sweater.
  • Tapestry Crochet can be worked in rounds and carry unworked yarns so it cannot see on both right side and wrong side.
  • I need to say I did a big mistake when working this pattern. So I had frogged a few rounds. 😉
  • The first couple of rows I worked single crochet and noticed my stitches slanted and the pattern wasn’t in right shape. I did more research and found that the work in stitches in back loop only is the best way to avoid this slanting.

So, my friends, I hope you enjoy making this baby sweater and learn new techniques. Please note that this is my first crochet pattern with the graph I’m sharing so there might be unclear points on the pattern section. If you found errors or have any questions, please comment below. 🙂
