Visors are a great accessory to wear during summer times.
If you don’t like to wear a hat in the summertime, but need something keeping the sun out of your eyes, this sun Visor Headband is perfect. It is a simple headband pattern with the visor. A quick and easy crochet project can be whipped up in a few hours.
This unisex visor headband pattern suitable for both men and women. You can make it in any color you want and the headband can be adjustable to any size.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Finished size (adult): 20-21” circumference
Materials (I used)
#4 – Medium/worsted weight yarns
- Red Heart Classic yarn – Dark Chambray (Amazon affiliate) (Approx: 100 yards)
- I-9, 5.5mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Gauge 12 sc x 15 rows = 4″ with I-9, 5.5mm crochet hook
Abbreviations
- sl st = slip stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- st = stitch
- sk = skip
- * to ; = repeat * to the instructions.
- beg = beginning
- (RS) = right side
Special stitch
- Crab st = crab st/Reverse Single Crochet
Notes:
- The ribbed band can be adjusted to any size.
- To get your desired circumference for the headband, crochet multiple of 2 rows for the band.
- Beg ch does not count as st.
Sun Visor Headband Pattern
Band
Ch 72, sl st to the first st. Be careful not to twist.
Round 1: ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, sl st to the first st. (72 sts)
Round 2: ch 2, fpdc in first st, *bpdc in next st, fpdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (72 sts total)
Round 3: ch 2, fpdc in first fpdc, *bpdc in next bpdc, fpdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (72 sts total)
Round 4: ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, sl st to the first st.
Visor
Row 1: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, [hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st] 3 times, sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (14 sts) Add stitch marker on the last hdc
Row 2: ch 1, sk sl st, 2 hdc in first st (marked st), [hdc in each of next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st] 3 times, hdc in last st of the visor (add stitch marker on last hdc), sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (18 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each of st across until last st remain, 2 sc in last st (add stitch marker on last sc), sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (20 sts)
Row 4: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, [hdc in each of next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st] 4 times, hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in last st (add stitch marker on last hdc), sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (26 sts)
Row 5: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across until last st remain, 2 sc in last st (add stitch marker on last sc), sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (28 sts)
Row 6: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, [hdc in each of next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st] 6 times, hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in last st (add stitch marker on last hdc), sl st to the next 2 sts of the band, turn. (36 sts)
Last row: ch 1, ch 1, crab st/Reverse Single Crochet in each st around the curve of the visor part, sl st to the st of the band. Fasten off and weave the end. (36 sts)
