Today I’m sharing a snowflake pattern with you. These snowflakes I made about 5 years ago using punched hole cardboard circle. Today I’m going to show you how to crochet this same pattern without the cardboard circle. So the whole pattern crochet with yarns.
These eight-point crochet snowflakes are easy and fast to crochet. You can use these snowflakes in many ways, as an ornaments, garlands and more.

These are great to write something in the middle or glue photos of your loved ones. You can add these two snowflakes to decorate your home for this Christmas.
Eight-Point Crochet Snowflake Pattern
Skill level: Easy
Finished size: 5.5″ wide
Gauge: Gauge is not important for this pattern.
Materials: You can use any kind of yarn and recommended hook size.
(I used)
- #2 – Fine / Sport weight yarn (Approx: 20 yards for one snowflake)
- US G-6, (4mm) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Abbreviations (US Term)
- ch = chain
- sc = single stitch
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- ch-sp = chain – space
- beg = beginning
- *to ; = repeat * to ; the instructions.
- [] = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed
Make a magic ring,
Round 1: ch 3 (count as hdc and beg ch), [hdc, ch 1] 7 times, sl st to the first 2nd beg ch. (8 hdc including beg ch 2)
Round 2: sl st to the next chain space, ch 3 (count as dc), 2 dc in same space, *ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-sp; repeat * to around, sl st to the beg ch 3 top. (24 dc/8 chain spaces)
Round 3: sl st until next chain space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, * ch 6, 3 dc in next ch-sp; repeat * to around, last ch 6 sl st to beg ch 3 top. (24 dc / 8 ch-sp)
Round 4: sl st to middle dc of next 3 dc, ch 3 (count as dc), (ch 2, dc, ch 2, dc) in same st, *ch 2, sc in next ch-6 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, dc) in middle dc of next 3 dc; repeat * to around, last ch 2 sl st to first dc. (8 (dc, ch 2, dc, ch 2, dc) / 8 sc)
Round 5: ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in same st, *ch 3 (dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc, ch 3, sc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next sc, ch 2, sc in next dc; repeat * to around, last ch 2 sl st to first sc. (8 (dc, ch 1, dc))
Round 6: ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in same st, *ch 4, sl st to middle ch-sp of 2 dc, ch 4, sl st to same ch-sp, ch 6, sl st to same st, ch 4, sl st to same st, ch 4, sl st to next sc, [ch 3, sl st to next sc] 2 times; repeat * to around. Fasten off and weave the end.
