- Notes:
- For making this purse the Bobble Drops Flower Granny Square pattern is used which is previously released on Crochet For You Blog. The square pattern has adjusted with one more sc round to make it more suitable for this pattern.
- You can find the bobble drops flower granny square video tutorial here, but remember there are 4 rounds only in the original square pattern, so you need to follow the final round (round 5 on this post) and finish the squares.
- When you make these squares for the coin purse, you have to change the color 4 times to make one square. Since the purse has wrong side and it will be covered with the lining I have carried the yarn on the wrong side when it needs.
- You can make this little purse in solid color too. Try bobble drops flower granny square in solid color, but remember to add one more sc round. After you follow the solid square pattern come here and follow the final round (round 5 on this post) and finish the squares.
Video Tutorial
The original pattern in this video tutorial needs to adjust with one more sc round to make it more suitable for this bag. After following this video tutorial, you need to come here back to follow the final round (round 5 on this post) to finish the square.

Round 4: join C2, ch 1 (does not count as st) sc in first st and next st, fpbobble st in next st one row below, sc in each of next 4 st, 3 sc in ch-sp, *sc in each of next 4 st, fpbobble in next st one row below, sc in each of next 4 st, 3 sc in ch-3 space; repeat * to around, after crocheting last sc, sl st to the first st. (4 fpbobbles/44 sc)
Round 5: with C2, ch 1, crochet sc in BL around the square, make sure to crochet 3 sc in each corner st (middle st in 3 sc at the corner), sl st to the first st. (56 sts) Fasten off, weave the ends.
Joining two pieces together
Holding the two pieces together wrong side out, with (C2) yarn, crochet slip stitch (sl st) around 3 sides of the both granny squares.
How to crochet slip stitch around the edge? Insert the hook in middle st of any corner 3 sts, yarn over, pull up a loop through st, *insert the hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop through st and the loop on the hook; repeat * to around the 3 sides. Fasten off and weave the end.
Strap
Join yarn at a side of the purse (I like to do it on the side with the zipper tab when it is closed) (image 1), ch 32 (image 2), sl st to the each chain across (image 3), leaving 3 or 4 inches long yarn tail cut the yarn, fasten off.
Insert the hook into the end of the strap and grab the yarn tail through the strap (image 5 & 6), using crochet hook, again take the yarn tails inside the purse and make a knot to secure (image 7).
Sew zipper and lining to the purse.
Sew the zipper to the purse. Cut the lining piece to match with the measurements of the purse, leaving extra 0.5″ for seam allowances. And fold the fabric in half (right side facing inside) and sew the sides.
Turn the right side out of the lining. And the wrong side out of the crochet purse. Insert the crochet purse into the lining. Add pins first and sew with the backstitch. After sewing the lining to the purse, turn inside out. Check out Crochet N Craft – Lining a Crochet Purse and learn more about how to add lining to the bag.
