Mellow Dishcloth Free Crochet Pattern

I love how Mellow Dishcloth finally turned out. It looks pretty and simple and perfectly match with any type of kitchen space modern to vintage. This textured crochet dishcloth is easy to crochet with two row repeat. I used two solid yarns and soothing color combination. These crochet dishcloths make wonderful gifts for cook lovers.

Mellow Dishcloth Crochet Pattern
Skill level: easy
Finished size: 9.25” x 10”
Materials
4-Medium weight / Worsted / 100% Cotton / 100 total yards
(I used)
– Drops Paris UNI COLOR in 2 colors (Amazon links)
– 1 skein for the dishcloth, I used White (No 16) and Vanilla (No 35) for each dishcloth
– small amount for crocheting the edge, I used White (No 16) and Pink (No 33) for each dishcloth
– (US) H-8 / 5 mm crochet hook
– Tapestry needle
– Stitch markers
– Scissors
Gauge: 17 sc x 14 rows = (4” x 4”) with H-8, 5mm crochet hook.
Abbreviations / special stitches
– ch = chain
– sl st = slip stitch
– sc = single crochet
– sk = skip
– FL = front loop
– BL = back loop
– *to ; = repeat * to the instructions.
Special stitches
– puff st = yo, insert the hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, insert the hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop] 2 times, yo, (7 loops on the hook) pull back all the loops on the hook.
Notes
– Beginning chain does not count as a stitch.
Ch 33 (crochet multiple of 2 + 1)
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (32 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in FL of first st, *sc in BL of next st, sc in FL of next st; repeat * to across, turn. (32 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, sc in BL of first st, *sc in FL of next st, sc in BL of next st; repeat * to across, turn. (32 sts)
Row 4 to 25: repeat rows 2 & 3 continuously. Or repeat row 2 & 3 until you have a square shape.
If you confused whether to crochet front or back loop when start the next row, here is a little tip: If you end the row with back loop, then start the next row with back loop.
Do not fasten off or cut the yarn. Turn the work again for making a sc edge.
Edging
(crochet sc around the dishcloth evenly. Make sure to crochet 3 sc in each corner)
Row 1: with same color, ch 1, 3 sc in corner st, sc in each st across until last st remain (I crocheted 30 sts), 3 sc in corner st, start working on side, 1 sc in each sc (I crocheted 25 sts), 3 sc in corner st, start working on bottom, 1 sc in each sc (I crocheted 30 sts), 3 sc in corner st, start working on side, 1 sc in each st (I crocheted 25 sts) sl st to the first sc. (122 total) Fasten off. (The total number of the stitches should have an even number)
Slanted Puff stitch edging
Join the color 2 at the middle st of the 3 sc (corner st), ch 2, puff st (see special stitch) in first st, sk next st, sl st to the next st, *ch 2, puff st in same st that crocheted sl st previously, sk next st, sl st to the next st; repeat * to around, Fasten off and weave the end. (60 puff sts)
