How to Crochet Granny Square
Make an adjustable ring.
Round 1: chain 3, 2 double crochet into the ring, [chain 3, 3 double crochet into the ring] 3 times, chain 3, join with slip stitch in beginning chain 3 top (image 1 above), slip stitch until next chain-3 space (corner space) (image 2 above).
Tips & Tricks
You can decrease the number of chains between 3 double crochet(s) if you need
- For this square above I didn’t crochet chain 1 between 3 double crochet(s).
- And for the corners I made only chain 2.
Round 2: chain 3, 2 double crochet in chain-3 space (corner space), chain 3, 3 double crochet in same chain-3 space (corner space) (image 3 above), *chain 1, (3 double crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) in next corner chain-3 space; repeat * from around (image 4 & 5 above), join with slip stitch in beginning chain 3 top. Slip stitch until next corner chain space.
Round 3: chain 3, 2 double crochet in corner chain-3 space, chain 3, 3 double crochet in same corner chain-3 space, *chain 1, 3 double crochet in next chain-1 space, chain 1, (3 double crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) in next corner chain-3 space; repeat * from around, chain 1, join with slip stitch in beginning chain 3 top. Slip stitch until next corner chain space.
Round 4: chain 3, 2 double crochet in corner chain-3 space, chain 3, 3 double crochet in same corner chain-3 space (image 6 above), *(chain 1, 3 double crochet in next chain-1 space) until chain-3 space corner remain (image 7 above), chain 1, (3 double crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet) in next corner chain-3 space; repeat * from around, chain 1, join with slip stitch in beginning chain 3 top. Slip stitch until next corner chain space.
For larger sizes, repeat round 4 continuously.
