Crochet Corn Applique Pattern by Crochet For You.

Happy Friday to all!. Here is my little fun crochet project I created for this week. Crochet corn applique. This is not a quite applique at all. You can give it a 3D effect by filling some scrap yarn. All instructions included below. I hope you enjoy the pattern.

Skill Level Easy

Finished size: 6.5” long and 2.5” wide

Materials (I used)
Sport yarn weight (15WPI)

Golden yellow color (Approx. 40-50 yards for 2 appliques)
Green color (Approx. 30 yards)
4 mm crochet hook

You can use any yarn type for this pattern.

Note: I made two corn appliques and joined together. If you want to give a 3D effect, you can stuff scrap yarns or fiberfill into the corn applique.

Abbreviations:

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
sl st = slip stitch
[] = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed
yo = yarn over
sp = space
sc2tog = Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, pull back through all 3 loops on hook at once.

Special stitch:

puff stitch: [yo, insert hook indicated st, yo, pull back] 3 times (7 loops), yo, pull back through all the loops on hook, ch 1 to close the stitch.

Crochet Corn Applique Pattern

(make 2)
Row 1: ch 4, puff st in 3rd ch from hook, puff st in next and last ch, dc in same ch. (2 puff sts)
Row 2: ch 3, turn, puff st in first sp between puff st and ch 3, puff st in next sp, puff st in last sp, dc in same sp. (3 puff sts)
Row 3: ch 3, turn, puff st in each sp across, dc in last and same sp you jut crocheted puff st last. (4 puff sts)
Row 4: ch 3, turn, puff st in each sp across, dc in last and same sp you just crocheted puff st last. (5 puff sts)
Row 5: ch 3, turn, puff st in second sp, puff st in next 3 sp, dc in last sp. (4 puff sts)
Row 6 – 11: repeat rows 4 and 5 alternatively.
Row 12: ch 3, turn, puff st in second sp, puff st in next 2 sp, dc in last sp. (3 puff sts)
Row 13: ch 3, turn, puff st in second sp, puff st in next sp, dc in last sp. (2 puff sts), fasten off.

Join 2 pieces together.

In this step, you can give a 3D effect to the applique if you want. Stuff scrap yarns or fiberfill into the corn applique while crocheting edging.
Join 2 pieces together using sc sts around the applique.
Join yellow color yarn with ch 1,
sc in 2 puff sts placed in top and bottom of the corn applique and 1 sc between that 2 puff sts. 2 sc in each dc in ch 3 around the applique, fasten off. (58 sc total)

Leaves
Join green color yarn top st, at row 10,

crochet ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, sc2tog, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, (photo No 1)
start crocheting around the applique edge, hdc in next sc (same st) that we joined green color yarn, hdc in each of next 21 sts,

ch 6, hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch 4 and in hdc body next to the chains, (photo No 2)

start crocheting around the applique edge again,
make a hdc in 21st st (same place) we crocheted last hdc before ch 6 (photo No 3), hdc in each of next 21 sts around the applique,
ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch and in hdc body next to the chains (photo No 4),
sl st to same place/last st we crocheted last before ch 6 (photo No 5), fasten off weave the ends.
