Crochet Elf Christmas Ornament Pattern
(Make 2)
Row 1: with beige color yarn, crochet ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, turn. (4 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st across, turn. (8 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat * to across, turn. (12 sts)
Row 4: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *sc in each of next 2 sts. 2 sc in next st, turn. (16 sts)
Row 5: ch 1, sc in first st, sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of next 7 sts, turn. (18 sts)
Row 6: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (18 sts)
Row 7: ch 1, sc in first st, sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts, turn. (20 sts)
Each of next row
Row 8: ch 1, sc in each st across including middle st, turn. (15 sts)
Row 9: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (15 sts)
Row 10: repeat row 9. (15 sts)
Join green color yarn at the last st of the previous row.
Row 11:(This row work in BLO/FLO in each piece.If you make this row in BLO in one piece, make sure to work FLO row in the other piece) ch 1, sc in each of BLO or FLO of st across, turn. (15 sts)
Row 12 and 13: repeat row 9.
Row 14: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog (see special stitches), sc in each of next 9 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (13 sts)
Row 15: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in each of next 7 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (11 sts)
Row 16: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (11 sts)
Row 17: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, sc2tog, turn. (9 sts)
Row 18: ch1, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (7 sts)
Row 19: ch 1, 3 sc in first st, sc in each of next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (8 sts)
Row 20: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, 3 sc in last st, turn. (9 sts)
Row 21: ch 1, 3 sc in first st, sc in each of next 5 sts, sc2tog, sc in last st, turn. (10 sts)
Row 22: ch 1, sc in first st, [sc2tog]2 times, sc in each of next 4 sts, 3 sc in last st. (10 sts) Fasten off.
Hat Brim. (work in unworked loops (BLO or FLO) in row 10)
Row 1: join white yarn at the first st, sc in each st across, turn. (15 sts)
Row 2: ch 1, *2
(sc around the edge)
Crochet sc around the edge in
Crochet sc in each st around the Santa’s LittleHelper. To make a smooth edge crochet 3sc in corner st of the point of the hat. (do not forget to crochet the same number of stitches on both
- Around the face: Join beige color yarn from one side of row 10, crochet sc only around the face and stop at row 10 of the other side.
- Around the Hat: Join green color yarn, (start at row 11) crochet sc only around the hat and stop at row 11 of the other side,
sl st to the firstst in beige color, fasten off and weave the ends.
Add Features to the Santa’s little helper on one piece.
- Attach safety eyes and sew mouth.
Joining two pieces together
Holding two pieces together right side out, with same yarn green color of the hat, start from one side of row 11 (same colored row – image 1 below),crochet slip stitch (
And crochet sc in same st you crocheted last
Insert the hook in next beige colored st (image1 below), crochet slip stitch (
How to crochet slip stitch around the edge? insert the hook in indicated st of both pieces, yarn over, pull up a loop, *insert the hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop through st and the loop on the hook; repeat * to around the edge, sl st to the first
Ears (make 2)
Make an adjustable/magic ring with beige color yarn.
Round 1: ch 1, 3
Round 2: ch 1,
Round 3: ch 1,
Finishing:
Using yarn tail and needle sew each ear on both

Just what I was looking for. I make my grandchildren and family members a little ornament every year. Was looking at Santa’s until I saw this cute elf. Perfect only 20 to knock out now. I usually don’t need to look at the pattern after the first four. ?
