Pastel Peaks Crochet Baby Hat Pattern by Crochet For You.

After making Pastel Peaks Blanket, I had some yarns left to make a small project. So I started to crochet a baby hat. The final result was amazingly beautiful! Now you can make a darling Pastel Peaks baby set with these two patterns.

To make this baby hat I used the same stitch pattern I used for the blanket but crocheted in rounds, not rows.

Skill level easy

Finished size (3-6 months)

• Height 6.5″
• Hat circumference = 14″

Materials (I used)

3 -lightweight / 100% Acrylic yarn

• (affiliate link) >> Lion Brand Ice Cream – Cotton Candy (Approx: 100 yards total)
• 5 mm crochet hook
• Tapestry needle for weaving ends.
• Ribbon 25” long for weaving through the edge of the hat and tie a bow.

Gauge 16 sc x 20 rows = 4″ with 5 mm crochet hook.

Abbreviations/stitches

• ch = chain
• dc = double crochet
• fhdc = foundation half double crochet
• bpdc = back post double crochet
• fpdc = front post double crochet
• st = stitch
• sk = skip
• sl st = slip stitch
• beg = beginning
• * to = repeat * to ; the instructions.
• (RS) = Right Side

Special stitches

• (fpdc, 3 dc) shell st = first you should crochet fpdc around indicated st and then make 3 dc in same indicated st.
• (fpdc, 2 dc) shell st = first you should crochet fpdc around indicated st and then make 2 dc in same indicated st.
• (fpdc, dc) shell st = first you should crochet fpdc around indicated st and then make dc in same indicated st.
• fpdc2tog = [Yarn over, insert hook from front to back and to front around the post of the next fpdc, yo, pull up a loop, yo and pull back through 2 loops] 2 times, yo and pull through all loops.

Notes

• Worked in bottom-up.
• Beg ch(s) does not count as st.
• If you like, you can weave the ribbon through the stitches in round 2 and tie a bow.

Pastel Peaks Crochet Baby Hat Pattern

Round 1: leaving 6″ long tail crochet fhdc 56, sl st to first st. (56  sts total)

Round 2: (RS) ch 2, fpdc in first st, *dc in next 3 sts, fpdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first fpdc. (56 sts total)

Round 3: ch 2, (fpdc, 3 dc) shell (see special stitches) in first fpdc, * sk next 3 dc, (fpdc, 3 dc) shell in next fpdc; repeat * to around, sl st to first fpdc, (14 shells)

Round 4 to 8: repeat round 3.

Round 9: ch 2, (fpdc, 2 dc) shell (see special stitches) in first fpdc, * sk next 3 dc, (fpdc, 2 dc) shell in next fpdc; repeat * to around, sl st to first fpdc. (14 shells)

Round 10 to 12: ch 2, (fpdc, 2 dc) shell in first fpdc, * sk next 2 dc, (fpdc, 2 dc) shell in next fpdc; repeat * to around, sl st to first fpdc. (14 shells)

Round 13: ch 2, (fpdc, dc) shell (see special stitches) in first fpdc, * sk next 2 dc, (fpdc, dc) shell in next fpdc; repeat * to around, sl st to first fpdc. (14 shells)

Round 14: ch 2, (fpdc, dc) shell in first fpdc, * sk next dc, (fpdc, dc) shell in next fpdc; repeat * to around, sl st to first fpdc. (14 shells)

Round 15: ch 2, fpdc2tog (see special stitches) around, sl st to first fpdc2tog. (7 fpdc2tog). Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving 10-12” tail.

Finishing (Close the top of the hat and sew the little open of the band)

• Turn the hat inside out first. Insert the yarn tail through tapestry needle and weave through space between fpdc2tog sts on the top. Pull the yarn tightly and close the top of the hat with a few more stitches.
• Sew the little open of the band with the yarn tail.
