Hi everyone, today I have another great crochet pattern share with you all. 🙂 My favorite crochet tote bag I ever made, Crochet Uptown Plaid Tote Bag. It is a beautiful and useful tote bag that you can crochet for daily use. Why I telling this bag is my favorite?

This pattern categorized under experienced level because of the complicated stitch pattern.

The thickness and strongness are the first things come when talking about this Crochet Uptown Plaid tote bag. As you can see, the texture of this bag is also really interesting and beautiful. Isn’t it? My mind full with lots of beautiful patterns to create with this texture. You no need to add a lining. The bag has a strength to carry your groceries and hold your other stuff when you go out.

You may feel uncomfortable when working first few rounds of the body of the bag. So I have created a short video clip for first few rounds beginning of the body of the bag. 🙂

Finished size 14” wide and 9.5” tall without handle

Materials

#4 – medium, worsted weight cotton blend yarn (Approx: 800 total yards)

(I used)

• (C1) 2 skeins of milk cotton (Approx: 400 total yards)
• (C2) 2 skeins of milk cotton (Approx: 400 total yards)
• H-8, 5mm crochet hook
• Stitch markers / Scissors
• Tapestry needle for weave ends.

Gauge: 15 hdc x 9 rows = 4″ with 5 H-8, 5mm crochet hook

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• st(s) = stitch(s)
• sl st = slip stitch
• fpdc = front post double crochet
• sk = skip
• beg = beginning
• (C1) = Color 1
• (C2) = Color 2
• (RS) = Right Side
• [] = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed.

Notes:

• This pattern categorized under experienced level because of the complicated stitch pattern.
• beg ch(s) does not count as st.
• Carry on the other yarn when it needs.
• You may feel uncomfortable first few rounds of the body of the bag until you grab the rhythm of the pattern.
• To make handles long, increase the number of chains.
• I have created a short video clip for first few rounds of the beginning of the body of the bag.

Crochet Uptown Plaid Tote Bag Pattern

ch 49 with (C1)

Round 1: (RS) 5 sc in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each of next 46 sts, 5 sc in last st, working on opposite side of the foundation chains, sc in each of next 46 sts, sl st to first sc. (102 sts total)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in first st and next 4 sts, sc in each of next 46 sts, 2 sc in next 5 sts, sc in each of next 46 sts, sl st to first sc. (112 sts total)

Round 3: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 4 times, sc in each of next 46 sts, [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] 5 times, sc in each of next 46 sts, sl st to first sc. (122 sts total)

Round 4: ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in each of next st around, sl st to first st. (122 sts total)

Round 5 to 8: repeat round 4. Note: add stitch marker on first st of round 8. Do not remove it when working round 9.

Round 9: repeat round 4 with (C2)
